Getting started

What is DailyGrid?

Ten hand-crafted daily puzzles in one place — cryptograms, word ladders, mini crosswords, word searches, sudoku, kakuro, nonograms, slitherlink, hashi, and minesweeper. A fresh set drops every day at midnight ET.

Do I need an account?

No. No signup, no email, no password. Your progress is tied to an anonymous ID on your device, so you can start playing in one tap.

How much does it cost?

The daily puzzles are free. Always. No paywall, no account, no locked daily games.

How does the timer work?

The clock counts your active time on a puzzle: it pauses when you leave the game or switch tabs, and resumes when you're back. In Word Search it starts the moment the puzzle opens — finding the words is part of the race.

When do new puzzles come out?

Every night at midnight Eastern. The clock in the top bar shows your local time, so you always know when the next set lands.

Can I play past days?

Yes — the date selector on the homepage lets you revisit recent days. (The site opens on today by default.)

What's the 🌙/☀️ button?

Light mode / dark mode. Dark is the default; your choice is remembered.

Streaks & progress

How do streaks work?

The 🔥 number in the top bar is your streak: consecutive days you finished at least one game. One solved game a day keeps it alive — that's the whole habit.

What's a "Perfect day"?

All 10 games completed in a single day. It's a bonus achievement on top of the streak day.

Do I lose progress if I don't finish everything?

No — every solved game is saved, win or not. Your streak only needs one solved game a day.

What if I miss a day?

Two safety nets, in this order: a streak rescue (below) if a friend saved your day, then a 🛡️ shield — you start with one and earn another every 7 streak days (up to 3). A shield burns automatically to forgive a missed day. Forgiven days keep the streak alive but don't count as played days.

What's a streak rescue?

When your streak is 2+ days and you haven't played yet today, the home screen offers "Share the rescue link." Send it to a friend: if they finish any of today's puzzles through it before midnight ET, your day is forgiven and your streak survives — and their game counts fully as their own. Rescues are limited to one received per week, links expire at midnight ET, and a rescued day is marked honestly in your stats as saved by a friend.

What are leagues?

A league is a private daily board for your group chat. Start one from any completion screen (or the Leaderboards page), share the invite link, and whoever opens it and finishes a puzzle that day is on the board — no sign-up step. Every league also has a public standings link (in the league's standings view): anyone with that link can see today's board, and player names are filtered for safety. League standings are just for your group — they never affect the daily boards, streaks, or challenges.

I switched phones — is my streak gone?

Streaks live on your device right now (no accounts by design), so they don't carry over to a new device. Cross-device sync is on the roadmap.

What does "👥 N playing today" mean?

How many people are playing today — an anonymous headcount, shown for everyone. No names or personal data behind it.

Sharing

How do share cards work?

After you win a game, hit Share to copy a spoiler-free emoji card — it shows your solve and your streak, never the answers. Paste it anywhere: X, Discord, texts.

Privacy

What data do you collect?

Almost none: an anonymous device ID so your streak and progress work, plus aggregate daily player counts (the public "playing today" number). No names, emails, IPs, or ad trackers.

How do I delete my data?

Clear this site's data in your browser settings, or email hello@getdailygrid.com and we'll take care of it.

Where are the Terms and Privacy Policy?

Linked in the footer of every page.
